It's all about time

Finished soup carving

Soup Sushi

First I chopped up the second soup carving into small pieces like this. This made the sushi pieces.

Then I took the shavings of the carving and mixed them together with different color paints. This made the inside of the sushi.

I ripped pieces of paper and painted them. this made them stick and stay rolled up.

Then i painted the ooutside and added rice to give the apperences of actual sushi.

Memento

My most vivid memory came when i was in 4th grade. I was in Ms. Dailys classroom when 9-11 happened I could never forget the events of that day. When working on this piece I wanted to use materials that are actually used in building buildings. I used wood, metal, and screws. i cut the wood into two smiler pieces of wood then i grinded them down so that one side was rounded. Once i did that I manipulated a piece of metal and attached the wood to it using the purposely oversized screws. Once the object was put together i burnt it while being careful not to burn it completely. if you put this object upside down it adds a totally different affect and creates more movement.

Gregor's Room

For Gregor Room I sculpted Gregor's Mattress along with his sheets and pillow, and footboard on the bottom of the bed, an apple, and Gregor himself. Since I imagine a very dark and depressing environment while reading I stay mostly away from colors. I made a very bright red apple because it was one thing that i pictured vividly while reading. it was also one of the things that hurt Gregor and contributed to his death. I made Gregor this way because it was the way i remember him best in the story. It was meant to be when he was first transformed into a bug and had the rounded back where he could not turn over from.

Elements and Principles In 3D form

Texture

For this texture piece I wanted to use the wood glue along with the shavings of balsa wood to  create a strong sense of texture. I layered the flat piece of wood onto of eachother. I also used multiple layers of glue and Balsa shredding.

Pattern

Here i decide to cut different sizes of balsa wood while still keeping a simpler shape. I put the piece on top of tape to keep them from moving. I added wood glue for an added sense of pattern

Rhythm

In this piece I was not sure where I was going. I just went for it and put objects where they felt right.

Focal Point

This is my favorite object. It is very simple but I feel it still creates a very strong sense of focal point. I attached Balsa wood together the whittled it down into a simple shape. Then I carved out the middle and added wood glue for affect.
